EVENT DETAILS AND LOCATIONS
Juneteenth Freedom Parade:
Start Location: School Road & Bay Street(outside of Von Brieson Park & Ft Wadsworth), Staten Island, NY 10305
End Location: Tappen Park, Bay Street (Water & Canal Streets)
PARTICIPANT ARRIVAL TIME: 10:30 AM
PARADE LINE UP TIME: 11:00 AM
PARADE START TIME: 12:00 PM
PARADE END TIME: 1:00 PM
Parade participants with vehicles and/or motorcycles are encouraged to arrive between 10:30AM and 10:45AM. Vehicles and motorcycles should enter the parking lot at Von Brieson Park with motorcycle on the left side and other vehicles on the right side. If the parking lot is full, please line up on the right side of the street and await further directions.
Parade lineup for all participants starts at 11:00 AM
Check-in at the Registration area near the Juneteenth banner at the entrance to Von Briesen Park to reconfirm the processional order of the Parade
At this year's 3rd Annual SI Juneteenth Freedom Parade, there will be four parade themes:
Harriet Tubman Parade Float (American abolitionist and social activist) portrayed by Assata Alston, including the free enslaved and African Drums with Gregory Taylor and Femi NYC - parade participants are encouraged to wear 19th Century period attire to represent the reclamation of our royal status.
Madam C.J. Walker Parade Float (American entrepreneur, philanthropist, and political and social activist.), a float focused on Entrepreneurship - parade participants are encouraged to wear African-American inspired, creative business attire, and/or black owned clothing brands to show that we are ready to invest in and leverage our collective buying power to elevate our financial and economic status in the world
Civil Rights Freedom Fighters Walk - with the ATU 726 Black Caucus - parade participants are encouraged to dress up as, and/or create encouraging signage honoring the freedom fighters throughout African-American history (all signs must be approved and be free of derogatory or offensive language)
Afro Futurism Float with Music by DJ Girl On the Rocks - parade participants are encouraged to wear bold, colorful, and creative futuristic attire dedicated to the evolution of Black thought and culture, expressed through art, creative works, and activism that reimagines, reinterprets, and reclaims the past and present for a more empowering future for African Americans
