This annual fundraising event is designed to “edu-tain” and raise the necessary funding, allowing Roc-A-Natural Cultural Foundation Inc. to continue educating the youth and overall community about Freedom Day. Through our historical reenactment, and living history floats, the Freedom Ball has been a highly anticipated fundraising event to support the 4th Annual Juneteenth Freedom Parade and Festival at Tappen Park (Bay Street, bet. Canal and Water Streets, Staten Island, 10304).
The 'Resident Mixologist' WBLS's own DJ Doc Martin caused a good ruckus at this Western themed Howdown which included dining and dancing to our favorite sounds of house, country, funk, etc. give-a-ways and more! DJ’s BME and General Tactics queued up the music curated by local artist, Jerraine Williams aka BlurredNoize for the Western Pulse Ensemble (Virgilio Meyers,Sr, DaKota McKoy, Dorcas Meyers, Dierdra Dilbert and Patrick Meyers) for their performance, choregraphed by Yvonne Curry, YDanceC, and Events Planner, Vanessa Edwards-El, Urbane Events, LLC who created the special touch that illuminated our Western ambiance.
Produced by Roc-A-Natural Cultural Foundation Inc. in collaboration with Friends Who Think Pink Breast Cancer Awareness, V. Meyers, Sr/ DJ’s General Tactics and BME, the event was held at LiGreci Staaten (697 Forest Avenue, Staten Island, 10310).
